Substance Abuse Hacks:

As a young adult I struggled with alcoholism. What can I say? Life was good and I like to have a good time. I kept up with work and was a happy drunk. Genetically my family can drink a lot and still function. However, this lifestyle was taking a toll on my health. I was overweight, not feeling that great and started to have memory issues.

For quality of life, you definitely want to cut alcohol. The days of drinking until you are 80 years old are gone. Our world is so toxic with chemicals that the liver is getting overwhelmed at much younger ages. Currently many who are hospitalized are between the ages of 40-55 with alcohol issues part of the problem.

This process is a mix of what I did to overcome alcoholism and the recipe from a non-profit I work with that helps teens overcome substance abuse.

Did you know that 3 out of 4 people in the United States overcome substance abuse issues?

  • Whether it's drugs or alcohol, I believe you can do this. It is time to quit being a slave to your vice.
  • Start with no more alcohol in the house.
  • Find a replacement for your favorite drink. Non-alcoholic versions or teas can work.
  • Join a small group for support and accountability.
  • Get a friend or two for support and accountability.
  • Begin weight training or some other type of working out.
  • Do a bible study at your local church.
  • Look for opportunities to volunteer at a non-profit.
  • Focus on the beautiful things in life. Take time to smell the roses.
  • If struggling, you may need new friends.
  • If still struggling, identify times when you are week so you can avoid these situations in the future.
  • Seek professional help.

Our goal is to be the last practitioner you meet with regarding your main health complaint.

We love doctors and believe their services provide great value. However allopathic methods of medication and surgery are expensive and in our experience, can have limitations when it comes to chronic health issues.

In addition, low health insurance reimbursements don't allow doctors to invest the time we do to listen and coach you along the way.
